Spruce St Harbor Park Surprise Proposal

Hammocks, showers and surprise proposals season :) Shreedip and Samridhi are engaged! 🥂💍
This hammock at Spruce St Harbor Park is where they had their first date and where she said yes! We all know how unpredictable weather is here in Philly in summer… A few moments before Shreedip was about to ask Sam to marry him, it started to downpour and they got soaking wet. Good thing Hilton hotel was right there where they hid for a few minutes before proceeding. He asked, she said yes! Sam was gleaming and absolutely loved her ring. Their family came to congratulate them on their engagement and we all enjoyed a nice calm evening after the storm and took some romantic photos along the water and in the park.

Happy engagement!

Fleisher Art Memorial Wedding | Jackson + Maxine

I thought I’ve seen everything….. but never ever had I seen a bridal party like this. My tears didn’t dry on their own… for like 5 minutes… it took 3 bridesmaids and the warmest strongest hug to make me look normal again :) These people = magic. Pure magic.
As for Jackson and Maxine…. they were absolutely stunning, on top of being the kindest, hard working, nicest people.Just look in their eyes, it’s all there. Crazy to think if I hadn’t noticed Jackson’s post in a local Mt Airy group that he opened a Martial Arts Studio 5 minutes from home and hadn’t gotten in touch last February, we might have not had a chance to work together.

Maxine’s beauty, Jackson’s awesome outfit, their baby dog as a ringbearer, Mariachi band and coolest Fleisher art Memorial that they chose as their venue - all these details made the day unforgettable. Looking at their gallery now, I can surely say that it couldn’t be a better match with any other couple full of soul and warmth and (not to brag) I don’t think any other photographer would be able to capture all those moments I captured for them and their families. Every. single.photo is a work of art and brings joy and smiles. I know it’s all they’ve ever wanted and beyond everything that I envisioned. My photojournalistic style that I developed from day one just bloomed into something extraordinary that day.

Photography is not about cameras…or lenses…or flashes. Photography is about heart and soul.

I am fascinated and so so so grateful for documenting this day for M&J.

Adventure Aquarium Surprise Proposal | Camden Waterfront & Race St Pier Engagement

Prem surprised Sarah with a shiny heart shaped ring and VIP tour around Adventure Aquarium in Camden, NJ. The coolest part of this afternoon: divers with the sweetest sign “Will you marry me?”…. and Sarah’s reaction of course! :)

Congratulations on your engagement!

Thank you to Aquarium’s staff for being super caring and helpful.

Peter Shields Inn Wedding | Cape May NJ | Marley + Sam

Marley and Sam…

You are the most wonderful, whimsical and unique couple I've ever seen. You proved that long distance relationship can lead to something special and so magical! You are so strong,so open, so real and so nice. Working with your families was such a dream!

Marley and Sam surprised everyone with a movie they created for their parents and family members. The movie tells the story and dynamics of their relationship along with gratitudes and lessons life taught them over the years.

We had such an extraordinary day… from gloomy rainy morning to a beautiful blue sky with amazing clouds, breeze and warm sun. We could not believe it. Even weather was cooperating ;)

The day started with a beautiful Intimate ceremony on the steps of Peter Shields Inn in Cape May, NJ. What a gorgeous venue! Decor, details, lots of white color, location - unbelievable match for a boho wedding with a hint of classics. ( exactly the way Marley planned it).

The most remarkable thing about their wedding is that they made us all cry. The whole room was filled with so much warmth, love, and happy tears. Their fairytale proves that miracles happen. We just got to want it so so bad and work very hard towards our happiness. Universe will handle everything else.

Atlantic ocean, Polish songs, family performance of Hallelujah on grand piano and video that's better than any speeches or toasts I've ever seen or heard. Thank you for letting my team to be with you on this special day. Cheers to the best day ever!

Jessica + James | Backyard Wedding in Ambler

Jessica and James. Oh my.... you set that night on fire. The outpour of emotions, love, loyalty, passion, unitedness that was concentrated in the air is insane. That feeling of a " WHOLE" when the whole family gathers together for a celebration… that's probably what left the biggest impression on me. You went so above and beyond to make this celebration beautiful and provide for your guests. You made it yours, the way only you could do. It was so "homie", but at the same time so grandiose in its own way. Gorgeous grounds generously provided by your friends just made it even more unique and added some extra honey to already sweet wedding day. Everything was top notch- food, flowers, amazing live band, heartwarming speeches.

Thank you for letting me be a part of your sweetest moments and showing me how deeply you care, love, and affect those who are around you.

:)

You're as smooth as Tennessee whiskey

You're as sweet as strawberry wine

You're as warm as a glass of brandy

And honey, I stay stoned on your love all the time...

Alex + Kit | Wedding at Mendenhall Inn

Alex and Kit tied the knot at the beautiful St Mary Magdalen Parish in Media and danced the night away at Mendenhall Inn. Their bright personalities, 19+ bridal party ( I still can't believe how helpful, fun, energetic and sweet everyone was and how much they contributed to this special day, making it truly one of a kind for the bride, groom and everyone else including me!), surprises during reception and the loveliest speeches are just a tiny part of how awesome the day went and how much joy it brought. Here is a little glimpse of the day.

Alina + Roupen | Elegant Brooklyn photo session

I’ve always dreamt of photographing a couple in love in New York…Brooklyn, in particular. Brooklyn bridge, iconic spots, elegance and that big city vibe.

Weddings and engagements in New York are special. Well, what else would you expect from this magical city? Every corner is filled with mystery, romance, history … New York is what you believe it is.

I believed one day it will open up for me and I will find what I was looking for but I could never imagine I’d get so lucky to meet two incredibly sweet lovebirds. They are like Brooklyn and Manhattan. Two worlds. Two interesting, dynamic, flowy, vibrant worlds that allow you to get close and look into their eyes. They love Brooklyn Bridge and Dumbo as much as I do. Impeccable style, glowy skin, eyes ready for adventure.

I am incredibly thankful for experience like this – we got in touch and coordinated our romantic photo session in just a few days, while I was visiting New York and working at NY Bridal Fashion Week. We only had time for a couple photos and a cup of cappuchino 😊 I needed to drive back to Philly for bridal boudoir session.

Days like this mark “ a new beginning”  in my memory. Looking forward to many more photo opportunities with you! Thank you again so so much.

Favorite reception moments!

Wedding reception is one of the tastiest parts of your wedding day! Yes, you heard (read) it right.

Excitement during bridal prep is gone, the emotional ceremony is over, family portraits are finished, as well as photos of bride and groom, and you are ready to party all night with your beloved family and friends!

Elegant ballroom, sun-lit backyard, artsy modern space ... it doesn't matter where you celebrate, it matters how and who you celebrate with.

Because there’s just something about those sparkly and elegant details that make emotional moments come alive for us. There’s something about all of your favorite people in the world getting together to toast, dance and celebrate the night away!

Our favorite receptions are crazy, emotional, meaningful, honest and raw! We absolutely adore watching parents say the most important things to their sons and daughters, we love seeing their tears as well as observing bride and groom getting emotional hearing that. We enjoy siblings and best friends sharing their personal stories during speeches, it's always super fun and allows to get to know our clients on a deeper level and just make sure one more time that they are awesome human beings! Our hearts come alive when we see grandparents getting down on the dance floor and couples soaking in those rare moments of universal, overwhelming happiness.

As long as our couple and their families are experiencing the night fully alive, we produce our best work! Not to mention how much satisfaction it brings to catch these moments.

What's your reception going to look like? :)

Let's chat about it!

3 tips to plan your engagement photo session

So, you are engaged! The ring is shining bright and every time you look at your hand, it takes you back to the moment when the whole world crashed on you and he was desperately waiting for your “ YES!” to the most important question. Congratulations on such a romantic period of your life! The little girl in you is probably already fantasizing about walking down the aisle in a gorgeous dress, seeing everyone’s happy faces.. you can’t wait to plan a perfect wedding day and marry the love of your life! But first, engagement and everything that comes with it. Undoubtedly, this time is blissful, but it also can be a bit stressful if you, like most of us, try to embrace everything and allow it to overwhelm you.

Let’s try to stay organized and prioritize instead. Of course, you want to tell the world that you are getting married! What’s the better way to celebrate your love than documenting it with a professional photographer? Plus, printed photos will make it a very special and memorable gift. Not only for each other, but for your families and your future generations. These tips will help you relax before and during your photo session, as well as understand the essence of your relationship and show you the true value of moments, documented by a professional.

1. Choose your style and theme

First of all, you need to narrow it down. Modern world offers too many options, and it confuses your mind. Think about where you and your partner will find yourselves comfortable. Try to imagine your photos and the final look they will have.  Is it a green park on a warm sunny day? Is it a сute cozy coffeeshop where you two enjoy your favorite pastries?  Is it a family farm or maybe a place where you spent your childhood? Are you a city girl and want to have that industrious urban style incorporated in your engagement photosession? Maybe you ( like me) can’t imagine your life without water and want to have your photos taken at the waterfront or at the shore? Do you enjoy big city lights instead?

2. Find the right photographer

Once your found your theme, find a professional photographer who specializes in weddings and engagements. It might sound easier than it is. These 2 tips will help you : when you look at photographer’s work, search for diversity. You should see lots of angles, lots of different lighting conditions, creativity, good eye, attention to details, and, most importantly, photographer’s work should speak to you. It should touch you and awake something in your heart. In other words,  you want to BE that person in his (her) artwork. If you can picture yourself in front of his lens, you are on the right way. Tip number two: get in touch and talk to your photographer. Tell him A LOT, in fact the more you share, the better it is, the easier it will be to tell your story and capture real you. Share your vision. Share away! I get a lot of questions from the  couples who ask me if I have any places for engagement session in mind. While I do have a list of my favorite spots and some hidden gems, I always ask my couples- what’s close to your soul? What’s meaningful for you? Is it a cafe where you went on your first date together? Is it the part of the city where you live and spend most evenings together? Is it that mountain you hiked where he proposed to you? Try to tell your engagement photographer everything that’s meaningful for both of you. Then make sure you communicate your vision and expectations, see tip number 1. Don’t be afraid to refer to photographer’s work and describe what you like in those photographs and if you want a similar style for your session.

3. Trust your professional.

When everything is scheduled, your hair and make up are done, your ring is cleaned, your manicure is impeccable, and you got to spend the next couple hours with your future spouse, stop for a second and try to clear your mind. Forget all the problems, insecurities and worries. Stop posing and overthinking. Do not ever dare to ask your photographer “ how do I look in these? “ 😉 Just be yourself and have fun! If you want to be romantic and playful, do it! It’s your time with your loved ones, don’t forget about it… Since we were kids, we are used to smile at the camera. I am not that photographer that will ask you to smile at the camera. I’m that photographer who will talk to you, ask you to share what your favorite moment of the proposal was, ask you to tell each other why you chose to be with each other and what you appreciate most in your relationship. I want to see real you, I want to be close to you, I want to be a part of your story, even if it’s just for a few hours.

P.S. Remember, it’s all about you. Trust yourself and your significant other, enjoy this time you get to spend together. Treat it as another opportunity to get closer and learn more about each other. In the end, if you go with me, you will love your photos so much you would want to work with me for your wedding 😊 Your engagement session will be a great rehearsal and will help you loosen up and get used to the cameras on your wedding day. You will feel more confident, more comfortable, you will know what to expect AND you will have a gorgeous album or a guest book for your guests to sign.

Enjoy your engagement!

Best, Inna

Sandra | Portrait session

There is a subtle magic in people. That magic that’s shining through on a dark grey rainy day. The magic that can heal you once you get lucky to touch it or just to hang around. That little string of connection and hearty warm hugs, conversations and that cup of coffee. The world exists in a way that usually separates those people from you. There is quite a distance. But you know what’s interesting? No matter how far you are, or how long you haven’t seen each other, one word and one meeting is enough to dive  back into that comfortable warm pool of magic. It’s not going anywhere, it’s all there. Just stretch a hand, send one message, meet some day and take some portraits. Because is there anything better than a portrait of one’s beautiful soul? That damn magic speaks louder than any words or any explanation people have been trying to find for ages…  Meet Sandra, she is #sundra.

Winter Brightlightsland | Melissa + Ken | Philadelphia Engagement

Probably nothing shines brighter and brings more joy than Longwood Gardens in December. Their Christmas display truly offers something that will leave you in awe and make your spirits bright. Taking all of that into consideration and really just chasing some cool Christmas lights = we decide to take some fun engagement photos there. This amazing couple is getting married in Philadelphia area in 2018 and I am sure their wedding photos will be as awesome as their engagement! ( not even mentioning breathtaking location that Ken chose for proposal - a beautiful lake in Canada).

Sean + Caitlin | Rittenhouse Square Surprise Proposal

When I was heading downtown on a bright sunny Saturday morning to photograph a surprise proposal, I had a feeling it's going to be nice but I didn't expect it to be that emotional and vibrant. Guys chose Rittenhouse Square, one of our all time favorite spots for romantic souls ( see more @ https://www.innaovsepian.com/blog/oldcity/philadelphiasurpriseproposal  for inspiration). Sean pretended he was taking a photo of Caitlin while I was hiding behind, ready to capture the most exciting moment. Then he got down on his knee and asked the most important question. Caitlin was shocked! She couldn't stop smiling and laughing... True, vibrant, strong emotions and a couple so in love with each other- I hope I managed to capture it all :) Their story is quite interesting and it proves one more time that what's meant to be is meant to be.  Those love stories with running into each other on the street after not being in touch for some time add something mysterious and it just blows my mind every time...

After a short walk around Philly, we came back to where it all started. Sean and Caitlin had a brunch reservation at iconic Parc Restaurant, a stylish french restaurant that recalls the chic brasseries of Paris. Their first date was there. Their first date as engaged couple happened there as well. I can't wait to see what future brings for this lively, beautiful, emotional couple.

Enjoy the moments! xoxo

Beau + Craig + Butters | Family session along Kelly Drive

It's an incredibly great feeling when clients come back every year to do a fun family session with their beloved dog. Beau and Craig both enjoy living in the city, and so does their little furry ball of happiness, Butters. Last year we met at Race St Pier where Butters had all the freedom in the world to sniff everyone, say hello and play in the green hot grass while occasionally sitting still for photos :) This summer we decided to change the scene a bit, and chose romantic Kelly Drive on a warm August night. We got so lucky with gorgeous sunset and quiet intimate moments between these two. I am already excited about our photo session next year!

Fall. Engaged. Princeton.

Although our love for Philadelphia, especially during these charming fall days is immeasurable, we absolutely adore Princeton, NJ and highly recommend our clients consider it when deciding on photo session location. Princeton University is truly magical and is probably one of the country's prettiest campuses. Here you can find gothic, romanesque, modern and postmodern styles, beautifully intertwining. These amazing buildings and gardens make the perfect backdrop for photography, whether it is romantic photosession, or a fun family lifestyle shoot with kids. Enjoy these peaceful images and hurry up to book your dream session with Inna Ovsepian Photography, fall won't last forever ;) We all know what's coming soon :)

Throwback SUN day

I visited 2 sunny countries recently. Countries of "sun", as I call them. My forever sweet and bright memories don't let me go so easily and I keep telling myself how said it is that warm days are over. We never want summer to end, right?;) But the good news is everything comes in circles and spring will be here pretty pretty soon. And we all know what it will start with. Cherry blossoms, of course!
Today on the blog is a spring- inspired photo session with Rie. She's a lifestyle blogger, dancer ( fragile as a tiny statuette) and a beautiful soul who got impeccable taste, combines outfits in the most organic and unique way and loves to roam romantic streets of old Philly with a cup of freshly-brewed La Colombe.

M + B | Philadelphia Waterworks Wedding + 1st Anniversary Old City Photowalk

I met this incredibly sweet and damn, photogenic couple last summer. Crazy heat and crazy in love. That’s how I remember that day. They got married around noon, the sun was high and so were Maryam’s heels…. But we braved the heat and all the inconveniences and had one of the most amazing photowalks around Philly. Apparently, Philadelphia means a lot to these lovebirds. When they asked me to photograph them again this year after falling In love with their wedding photos, they told me they wanted “a lot of Philadelphia” in their pictures.

So this is the outcome of our cool photosession with two cool people, who are so into each other, photography, technology, nature and travelling. They were leaving Philadelphia shortly after our session to have a second marriage ceremony and celebration with their loved ones in their hometown. I am happy they now have all this to enjoy memories of the lovely city that united them.
