Slay Displays/ Location 215

This past Thursday was an unforgettable day when we all got to celebrate relaunch and rebrand of Slay Displays. Networking, meeting new people and making amazing connections - what can be better? Funny how I’ve been asking everyone how they met Julia.. and was happy to share my story: we first met at a styled shoot at Anthony Wayne House, a project I got interested in because I saw her name and wanted to meet another russian- speaking vendor in the industry! I got to meet her and her husband and got amazed by how much effort and hard work they put into their craft. All of their flowers, giant letters and backdrops are made by hand… it’s clear they pour all their energy and soul into what they do and always come up with creative ways to wow! Their letters are definitely show stoppers that would be an awesome addition to a surprise proposal, wedding, family celebrations and any other event.

It was awesome to meet new amazing friendors I ‘ve heard of before : Frost 321 are so unique and so cool! While we were filming them, I was literally mesmerized by the way their cocktails are made. Watching them do their magic made me think of summer rooftop parties and how great it would be to have them there. It’s literally entertainment + frozen tasty cocktails ( 2 in 1).

Huge thank you to all the vendors who participated:

Spruce St Harbor Park Surprise Proposal

Hammocks, showers and surprise proposals season :) Shreedip and Samridhi are engaged! 🥂💍
This hammock at Spruce St Harbor Park is where they had their first date and where she said yes! We all know how unpredictable weather is here in Philly in summer… A few moments before Shreedip was about to ask Sam to marry him, it started to downpour and they got soaking wet. Good thing Hilton hotel was right there where they hid for a few minutes before proceeding. He asked, she said yes! Sam was gleaming and absolutely loved her ring. Their family came to congratulate them on their engagement and we all enjoyed a nice calm evening after the storm and took some romantic photos along the water and in the park.

Happy engagement!

Adventure Aquarium Surprise Proposal | Camden Waterfront & Race St Pier Engagement

Prem surprised Sarah with a shiny heart shaped ring and VIP tour around Adventure Aquarium in Camden, NJ. The coolest part of this afternoon: divers with the sweetest sign “Will you marry me?”…. and Sarah’s reaction of course! :)

Congratulations on your engagement!

Thank you to Aquarium’s staff for being super caring and helpful.

Surprise Proposal at Morris Arboretum | Philadelphia Engagement

morris arboretum proposal.jpg

She said yes!

👩‍❤️‍💋‍👨Fresh! She said yes!!! Saturday morning in misty Morris Arboretum of the University of Pennsylvania :) The sweeeeetest couple ever! The way Brianna looks at Joe blows my mind 💍😍🤗
#surpriseproposal #shesaidyes #FutureMrsKnellinger

The funniest part is that obviously Brianna didn’t have a clue while Joe coordinated every detail with me. On the day of proposal Morris Arboretum was crowded so we had to take a shuttle to the upper level. What do you think? Of course we happened to be on the same bus and Joe and I had to pretend nothing was happening. It was drizzling and they finally walked to Rose Garden when Joe got on his knee and asked Brianna to marry him. She had the sweetest reaction ever. You know the rest :) Tons of questions, from how he picked the best ring to who else knows….

They have been together for a few years and share so much together. Their little baby princess is so!!! adorable. We jokingly mentioned that she might be a flower girl for their wedding in a couple years from now :) I am so happy that I met these young, beautiful, candid lovebirds.

Happy engagement! Can’t wait to capture your emotions on your wedding day.

3 tips to plan your engagement photo session

So, you are engaged! The ring is shining bright and every time you look at your hand, it takes you back to the moment when the whole world crashed on you and he was desperately waiting for your “ YES!” to the most important question. Congratulations on such a romantic period of your life! The little girl in you is probably already fantasizing about walking down the aisle in a gorgeous dress, seeing everyone’s happy faces.. you can’t wait to plan a perfect wedding day and marry the love of your life! But first, engagement and everything that comes with it. Undoubtedly, this time is blissful, but it also can be a bit stressful if you, like most of us, try to embrace everything and allow it to overwhelm you.

Let’s try to stay organized and prioritize instead. Of course, you want to tell the world that you are getting married! What’s the better way to celebrate your love than documenting it with a professional photographer? Plus, printed photos will make it a very special and memorable gift. Not only for each other, but for your families and your future generations. These tips will help you relax before and during your photo session, as well as understand the essence of your relationship and show you the true value of moments, documented by a professional.

1. Choose your style and theme

First of all, you need to narrow it down. Modern world offers too many options, and it confuses your mind. Think about where you and your partner will find yourselves comfortable. Try to imagine your photos and the final look they will have.  Is it a green park on a warm sunny day? Is it a сute cozy coffeeshop where you two enjoy your favorite pastries?  Is it a family farm or maybe a place where you spent your childhood? Are you a city girl and want to have that industrious urban style incorporated in your engagement photosession? Maybe you ( like me) can’t imagine your life without water and want to have your photos taken at the waterfront or at the shore? Do you enjoy big city lights instead?

2. Find the right photographer

Once your found your theme, find a professional photographer who specializes in weddings and engagements. It might sound easier than it is. These 2 tips will help you : when you look at photographer’s work, search for diversity. You should see lots of angles, lots of different lighting conditions, creativity, good eye, attention to details, and, most importantly, photographer’s work should speak to you. It should touch you and awake something in your heart. In other words,  you want to BE that person in his (her) artwork. If you can picture yourself in front of his lens, you are on the right way. Tip number two: get in touch and talk to your photographer. Tell him A LOT, in fact the more you share, the better it is, the easier it will be to tell your story and capture real you. Share your vision. Share away! I get a lot of questions from the  couples who ask me if I have any places for engagement session in mind. While I do have a list of my favorite spots and some hidden gems, I always ask my couples- what’s close to your soul? What’s meaningful for you? Is it a cafe where you went on your first date together? Is it the part of the city where you live and spend most evenings together? Is it that mountain you hiked where he proposed to you? Try to tell your engagement photographer everything that’s meaningful for both of you. Then make sure you communicate your vision and expectations, see tip number 1. Don’t be afraid to refer to photographer’s work and describe what you like in those photographs and if you want a similar style for your session.

3. Trust your professional.

When everything is scheduled, your hair and make up are done, your ring is cleaned, your manicure is impeccable, and you got to spend the next couple hours with your future spouse, stop for a second and try to clear your mind. Forget all the problems, insecurities and worries. Stop posing and overthinking. Do not ever dare to ask your photographer “ how do I look in these? “ 😉 Just be yourself and have fun! If you want to be romantic and playful, do it! It’s your time with your loved ones, don’t forget about it… Since we were kids, we are used to smile at the camera. I am not that photographer that will ask you to smile at the camera. I’m that photographer who will talk to you, ask you to share what your favorite moment of the proposal was, ask you to tell each other why you chose to be with each other and what you appreciate most in your relationship. I want to see real you, I want to be close to you, I want to be a part of your story, even if it’s just for a few hours.

P.S. Remember, it’s all about you. Trust yourself and your significant other, enjoy this time you get to spend together. Treat it as another opportunity to get closer and learn more about each other. In the end, if you go with me, you will love your photos so much you would want to work with me for your wedding 😊 Your engagement session will be a great rehearsal and will help you loosen up and get used to the cameras on your wedding day. You will feel more confident, more comfortable, you will know what to expect AND you will have a gorgeous album or a guest book for your guests to sign.

Enjoy your engagement!

Best, Inna

Winter Brightlightsland | Melissa + Ken | Philadelphia Engagement

Probably nothing shines brighter and brings more joy than Longwood Gardens in December. Their Christmas display truly offers something that will leave you in awe and make your spirits bright. Taking all of that into consideration and really just chasing some cool Christmas lights = we decide to take some fun engagement photos there. This amazing couple is getting married in Philadelphia area in 2018 and I am sure their wedding photos will be as awesome as their engagement! ( not even mentioning breathtaking location that Ken chose for proposal - a beautiful lake in Canada).

Sean + Caitlin | Rittenhouse Square Surprise Proposal

When I was heading downtown on a bright sunny Saturday morning to photograph a surprise proposal, I had a feeling it's going to be nice but I didn't expect it to be that emotional and vibrant. Guys chose Rittenhouse Square, one of our all time favorite spots for romantic souls ( see more @ https://www.innaovsepian.com/blog/oldcity/philadelphiasurpriseproposal  for inspiration). Sean pretended he was taking a photo of Caitlin while I was hiding behind, ready to capture the most exciting moment. Then he got down on his knee and asked the most important question. Caitlin was shocked! She couldn't stop smiling and laughing... True, vibrant, strong emotions and a couple so in love with each other- I hope I managed to capture it all :) Their story is quite interesting and it proves one more time that what's meant to be is meant to be.  Those love stories with running into each other on the street after not being in touch for some time add something mysterious and it just blows my mind every time...

After a short walk around Philly, we came back to where it all started. Sean and Caitlin had a brunch reservation at iconic Parc Restaurant, a stylish french restaurant that recalls the chic brasseries of Paris. Their first date was there. Their first date as engaged couple happened there as well. I can't wait to see what future brings for this lively, beautiful, emotional couple.

Enjoy the moments! xoxo

John+Alexis | Philadelphia Old City Surprise Proposal

Sometimes you meet people. And they are made of light. And some sunshine, love, laugh and bright energy. Their names are Alexis and John. Two beautiful souls who recently got engaged in one of the most romantic spots in Philadelphia. John did great! He planned this surprise proposal perfectly. And, oh, that ring from "Where Philly gets engaged" .... stunning. We celebrated with a nice relaxed photo walk around Rittenhouse square and took some great photos of this sweet couple. One more time I came to a conclusion that if somebody tells you they look awkward in front of the camera, DO NOT BELIEVE THEM :)  As I am adding these images for their friends and families to see, Jack Johnson is singing his " Always better when we're together" in my headphones and I could not agree with him more :) Let it be the official soundtrack of that hot summer night when two decided to be one.

Enjoy the memories!
